DID YOU KNOW...?

Clothes Make The Man Facts:

To date CMTM has "suited" over 600 men since we began operations in October 2003.  Men come from all walks of life, from shelters, halfway houses, transitional employment programs, community re-entry programs, mental health, Department of Labor, Department of Corrections, Greater Hartford Urban League and more.  Over 65 agencies, organizations and government programs refer men to us.  All men have the opportunity to get one suit before they interview or begin job searching, a second when they secure employment and a third when they complete one-year on the job.  Over 65% come back for a second suit.  Now, in our third full year of operations we are seeing many men come back for a third.  Did you know that if an ex-offender is working within one month after being released from prison that the chance of recidivism is reduced significantly (almost 80%) and that the person is much less likely to return to prison?

Did you know that there are tax credits available on both the state and federal levels to businesses that hire people from certain demographic groups?  You can hire new employees and provide a tax benefit to your business under the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) and/or Welfare-to-Work programs (WtWTC).  WOTC allows employers to receive a credit by hiring from one of eight specific groups; Aid to Families with Dependent Children (ADFC)/Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), Ex-Felon, Food Stamp Recipient, High-Risk Youth, Summer Youth Employee, SSI Recipient, Veteran, and Vocational Rehabilitation Referral. Welfare-to-Work Tax Credit is available for hiring long-term family assistance recipients.  For both of these tax credits, minimal paperwork is required, and there is no limit to the number of new hires who can qualify an employer for the tax savings.  Potentially an employer may qualify for a maximum of $2400 per new hire under WOTC and up to $8500 for WtWTC.

Consult your tax advisor, accountant, or call the Department of Labor-WOTC Unit.  You can also find out more by visiting the Department of Labor website at www.ctdol.state.ct.us.

Did you know that for a family of four the federal poverty threshold is $18,100 (FY2002). The average salary in Hartford, CT is $39,954 per year.

Did you know that one of the reasons many people fail to get the job they want or the job they need is simply because their appearance causes them to fail at making a good first impression?

Mark Twain once said, "Clothes make the man.  Naked people have little or no influence in society."  WE GIVE OUR CLIENTS INFLUENCE.
